ETS 2016 production, STAND GROUND, premiere’s at CounterPulse in October 13-15 and 20-22, 2016.
With an incredible ensemble and design team, we are thrilled to take our audience on another journey: literally through the beautiful spaces of the new CounterPulse 80 Turk project, and mentally, emotionally, metaphorically through the territories of a woman’s world. Working together with women military veterans and non-veteran civilians, this ensemble weaves their personal experiences of leadership, struggle, and forging new pathways for women, on the front lines.
STAND GROUND is a theater experience designed through the lens of the woman (as) warrior. The ensemble guide’s the audience through mapped and unmapped territories, exploring each of our relationships to our home lands, power, past and present stories.
Two powerful aspects of military and civilian life are explored:
1) Women as Warriors: the various fronts where women fight for freedom, to serve, to survive, to achieve greatness, against systemic sexism and 2) Territory: How do we relate with the territories that we move through in our daily lives? Where do we feel ownership or lack; a sense of control or loss of control? How does the local relate to the global in how we inhabit, define and relate to our community, nation, the world?
